Rihanna has been crowned queen of the downloads after becoming the best-selling singer online. The Umbrella hitmaker's fans have flocked to own virtual copies of the star's music, and officials at Nielsen SoundScan have revealed her sales stood at more than 47.5 million at the end of 2011.
Rihanna continues beating various kind records! This time sultry Barbadian has been named by Nielsen SoundScan as the top-selling digital artist ever.The Talk That Talk diva has moved an incredible 47.5 million digital downloads(!!!) since bursting onto the scene in 2005. Rihanna’s new record comes after she was recently named the most talked-about singer on Facebook in 2011.
The second place went to Black Eyed Peas who have career digital sales of 42.4 million.
Eminem trails BEP by just 100,000 for third place with over 42.29 million in sales.
Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift came in at fourth and fifth, respectively, with career digital sales of 42.08 million and 41.82 million.
Katy Perry, with her 37.62 million sales, is on the sixth place.
Next goes Lil Wayne with his 36.79 million.
Newly-mom Beyoncé got the eighth position having sold 30.44 million digital tracks.
Kanye West may fail his fashion business, but he’s okay as he has sold 30.24 million songs via internet.
Britney Spears closes up the top 10 with her 28.66 million.
Rihanna can add the title to her ever-increasing list of chart accolades. Late last year, she leapt past Janet Jackson and Stevie Wonder on the list of artists with the most number one singles whenWe Found Love topped the charts, becoming her 11th number one and tying her with Whitney Houston. Only the Supremes, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley and the Beatles have more chart-toppers. The single also helped the pop star make Billboard history as the solo artist to reach 20 top tens the fastest. It took her six years and four months to reach that total, five less than it took Madonna. You go, RiRi!
