Dempsey going for gold:Two silvers for Paralympic sailors, Dempsey set for gold

The final day of World Cup racing for the Paralympic classes in Miami saw two silver medals for Britain's sailors with their team-mates in the Olympic classes guaranteed at least three more from medal race deciders.
Just two weeks after reaching the podium at their World Championships in Port Charlotte, Florida, Skandia Team GBR's world title-winning SKUD pair of Alexandra Rickham and Niki Birrell and the Sonar team of John Robertson, Hannah Stodel and Steve Thomas ensured they continued their medal-winning ways in 2012.
Rickham and Birrell missed out on gold in Miami - the second leg of the World Cup series - by just one point to the Australian duo of Daniel Fitzgibbon and Liesl Tesch, but helm Rickham insists they were happy with their performance at a venue which has proved tough for them in the past.
She said: "We're happy with everything - this is pretty much the worst venue for us. We seem to suffer here every year so to come away with a silver is quite a big step forwards.
"We just missed out on the gold, normally we're fighting just to get the bronze so we leave here really confident and happy with our winter's work."
Gold in the Sonar event went to the Dutch trio with Robertson, Stodel and Thomas five points behind after the 10-race series.
The 2.4mR Paralympic class also concluded racing with Skandia Team GBR's Megan Pascoe finishing fourth and Helena Lucas fifth.
After a near-flawless week in which he counts only race wins on his scorecard, Nick Dempsey has almost assured himself of gold in the RS:X men's windsurfing event.
The Athens bronze medallist and 2009 world champion has amassed an 18-point lead going into the 10-boat double points-scoring finale.
The women's match racing trio of Lucy Macgregor, Annie Lush and Kate Macgregor also guaranteed themselves at least a silver medal when they overcame Finland's Silja Lehtinen in their nail-biting semi-final.
Gold in the Laser class will be a straight duel between Olympic champion Paul Goodison, and the Brazilian Bruno Fontes who are both tied on points going into the final day.
But things are less clear cut in the 470 women's event. The British pair are now 12 points off of the gold medal spot and are one of three teams who could win silver.

Cullen shines for GB:Leicester defender strikes twice in draw with Holland

Leicester's Crista Cullen inspired a superb second-half fightback as Great Britain's women drew 2-2 with Olympic champions Holland in the Champions Trophy in Rosario.
Britain trailed 2-0 at half-time to the world's top-ranked team, Naomi van As scoring in the seventh minute before Kim Lammers doubled the lead with three minutes remaining until the interval.
But Cullen scored twice from penalty corners in the second period, her 61st minute equaliser a spectacular strike which was deflected onto the crossbar before bouncing down into the net.
Britain also missed two penalty strokes, captain Kate Walsh firing wide in the first half when her team trailed 1-0 and Cullen denied by goalkeeper Joyce Sombroek at 2-1 in the second.
The result leaves both sides level on four points, with Britain top on goal difference after Cullen set them on their way to a 3-0 win over Japan in their opening game while the Dutch beat China 3-1.
Despite the second-half comeback, head coach Danny Kerry said: "We're disappointed with our first-half performance, the girls need to believe in
themselves more.
"At half-time we spoke about belief and for them to decide if they are good enough."
Kerry also expressed his concerns over the heat in Rosario, ahead of his side's final group game against China on Tuesday.
"I'm disgusted that we're being asked to play in such high temperatures," he said. "It's dangerous and wrong."

Van Commenee hails Farah:World 5,000m champion lauded by head of UK Athletics

UK Athletics head coach Charles van Commenee has described Mo Farah as "a complete athlete".
World 5,000 metres champion Farah dropped down to 1,500m for Saturday's Aviva International Match in Glasgow and rounded off the last top-class indoor event at the Kelvin Hall with a brilliant performance.
Despite only arriving back in the country two days earlier after five weeks of altitude training in Kenya, Farah outsprinted Augustine Choge - the fastest man in the world over the distance indoors in 2011 - to seal victory for Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the five-team event.
That was precisely what Farah wanted as he looks to hone his sprint finish ahead of his bid for Olympic glory in London, and Van Commenee was as impressed as anyone in the capacity crowd of 3,500.
"We'll remember that race for a while, it was fantastic,'' Van Commenee said.
"Beating the world leader is quite special. It's not his distance so it's very pleasing to see the world champion over 5,000m beat the best athlete over 1500m. That's very encouraging.
"It seems like Mo always has another gear. All athletes of that calibre like to fight, but not everybody has the engine.

"He's the world champion, there are not any weaknesses. Last year in the 10k (at the World Championships in Daegu) he was slightly taken by surprise but he is warned now - he's a complete athlete.
"It's good for the nation, but he's not the only one. We have a good group of athletes at the moment who have the capacity to represent the nation well at the Games.
"Mo at the moment is the number one, but there are a few who can take over."
Farah's win was one of seven for the home team, with Mark Lewis-Francis(60m), Danny Talbot (200m), Margaret Adeoye (200m), Joe Thomas (800m), Jeanette Kwakye (60m) and Yamile Aldama (triple jump) also victorious.
"It was very pleasing to see we had a new name like Margaret,'' Van Commenee added. "Danny and Joe are not new but they made a mark here.
"I was very impressed with Joe Thomas, the way he ran, that makes him a strong candidate to make the Olympic team and world indoors.
"Kwakye coming out with 7.26 seconds; in her best year she did 7.24 in her first race so that promises a lot.''
Injury problems for Turner
Not such good news was the sight of world bronze medallist Andy Turner again struggling with a long-standing Achilles injury.
Turner, who reacted angrily to suggestions on Twitter that he faked the injury after finishing last in Glasgow, will undergo an MRI scan on Monday morning to further assess the situation.
"It's the same thing as last year, it just flares up for no reason,'' said Turner, who spent three months training near Disney World in Florida over the winter.
"I'm 31 and my body is falling apart. I had an injection on it last Friday and thought it would take all the pain away as it did last year, but it hasn't really done anything yet.
"I had a cortisone injection in my ankle last year which fixed it but it lasts for three months. Three or four weeks after Daegu it started coming back.
"After two or three weeks of complete rest it had gone completely, but you can't really have two or three weeks off right now.
"I'm just going to have to get on with it. I don't think the Achilles is the problem, I think my foot and ankle is getting tight and pulling on the Achilles.
"I've been training on it for most of last season, working through pain with every step. Some days are worse than others.
"It's not a worry that it's going to get worse or pop, it's that I'm having to tailor my training around it."

Olympic rooms released:Rooms released back to hotels by Olympic organisers

LOCOG have released over 120,000 hotel places they reserved for the Olympic workers, sponsors and the media during the Games will not be needed.
The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (Locog) confirmed that around 20% of the room nights they had booked would now be returned to the hotels for them to offer up to other customers.
As part of the bid to stage the 2012 Games, agreements had been struck with hotels to provide more than 40,000 rooms, representing more than 600,000 room nights during the period.
Part of the deal was that the committee promised to return any unwanted rooms back to the hotels so they could sell them in time for Games. The rooms, at more than 200 hotels, range from Five-star to budget accommodation.
Locog chief executive Paul Deighton said: "The hotel industry in London got behind the bid to stage the Games in the most extraordinary way and that support helped us across the line.
"We always promised that we would not hold on to hotel rooms we didn't need but return them to the individual hotels at the beginning of 2012.
"We are now doing this and I hope that this enables the hotels to continue with their planning for this summer as we all work together to stage a spectacular Games."
VisitBritain chief executive Sandie Dawe said: "We welcome the announcement by Locog that they will be releasing around 20% of the hotel rooms that they have held in advance of the Games taking place.
"The fact that such a wide spread of rooms in London will now be made available to the public is great news for overseas visitors wishing to come to the UK to experience the Olympics and all the other wonderful festivities that are taking place over the summer."
Barry Wishart from the Grange Hotel group added: "We were only too happy to support London's bid for the Games and we are proud to continue that support.
"Now Locog has confirmed these details, we are able to confirm our plans for this summer and help our customers be part of this extraordinary event."
Not everyone believes the news is so positive however, with some in the tourism industry warning that prices had risen too fast before the new rooms were offered and many potential visitors had now been put off from staying in the capital.
Neil Wootton, managing director of sightseeing operator Premium Tours, told the Independent: "Prices have been so high that tourists are moving elsewhere."
